Joel has been working in the construction industry since graduating from The Ohio State University in Construction Systems Management. He first worked on a team at Shook Construction, building water and wastewater treatment facilities. However, wanting to continue the passion that began while building homes in Mexico during internships, Joel took a position with Habitat for Humanity Mid-Ohio as a Project Lead. During this time he led and taught volunteers, while managing the construction of new-build homes in central Ohio.
Joel left Habitat to spent time in Haiti, working on rebuilding efforts after the devastating 2010 earthquake. Returning to Habitat, he helped start Habitat Mid-Ohio's Critical Home Repair Program as their NRI Superintendent. During this time, he inspected owner-occupied homes for critical safety and functional issues, and created projects that would rehab homes in critical need. Joel left Habitat in 2012 and moved into the commercial construction world working for Equity Construction Services (ECS). Here he managed the construction of commercial offices, medical offices, and retail spaces around the central Ohio area.
Joel left ECS as their Special Projects Division Manager to start his own business as a Real Estate Inspector. Wanting to use his passion for teaching and helping others in a concrete way, he now helps people understand the condition of the property they are buying, selling, or building, so they can make educated decisions. Joel understands that buying, selling, or building a home is one of the most costly decisions someone will make and wants to ensure that people are empowered to do it successfully.
